How We Protect Your Information
When you talk with a mortgage professional, you share some of the most personal information you have: your income, your savings, your debts, and your plans. Federal law calls this nonpublic personal information, or NPI. In plain terms, NPI is your financial life linked to your identity. Protecting it is a legal duty under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the federal law that governs how financial professionals handle consumer financial information. We treat it as more than a legal duty. We treat it as part of the job itself.
Here is what that means in practice.
Your information is protected the moment it can be traced to you. Many people believe information is only sensitive if it includes an account number or a Social Security number. That is not how identification works. A list of debts attached to your name and email is your financial life, traceable to you. We protect the whole picture, not just the obvious pieces.
We collect only what the work requires. Education does not require your personal details. You can read every page of this site, use our learning tools, and call with questions without creating a financial record. A financial record begins only when you choose to start one, and we say so
plainly when that moment arrives.
We do not put your information into ungoverned tools. Artificial intelligence, or AI, is software that can read, summarize, and draft at remarkable speed. Used well, it makes professionals faster and more thorough. Used carelessly, it can send private information to places no one controls. Our standard is simple: your identifiable information never enters a tool that has not been vetted for security, confidentiality, and proper data handling. When we use AI to
support our work, we use it on patterns and general scenarios, never on your identity, unless the tool itself meets professional data protection standards.
A licensed professional reviews everything that reaches you. No software sends you advice. AI may help draft or organize, but a licensed human verifies, owns, and signs every communication and every number you rely on.
Recorded conversations require your consent. If a video call or phone call is recorded, you will know before it starts, you will be told if an AI tool will summarize it, and the recording will live in secured systems with a defined retention period, not in an indefinite archive.
Your information is never sold. Not to marketers, not to lead aggregators, not to anyone. If you ever want to know what information we hold about you, or want it deleted, ask. The answer will be plain and the process will be simple.
